PRESS RELEASE

“Personal Views,” artwork by Cathy Hirsh on view July 20-22

Art is a personal statement by the artists who make the artwork, and no where is that more clear than when artists paint together.

“It is really interesting painting with a group of artists,” observes Cathy Hirsh, whose artwork will be featured at the Yellow Barn of Glen Echo Park July 20-22. “We’ll be painting at the same location, in some instances painting the same scene or object, and the results across the artists will all be very different interpretations.”

“I titled my show ‘Personal Views’ because these pictures are my interpretations. Many of these pictures were painted on location, or, in the case of still lifes and florals, in the studio. Others are interpretations of photographed scenes or else were done solely from my imagination.”

Cathy uses a variety of media—oil, watercolor, acrylic, and multimedia—depending upon the subject and the effect she wants. The show includes landscape, still life, floral, and abstract paintings.

Cathy’s paintings are in collections in the Washington, DC metropolitan area and California, and her work has been shown in many group shows, including some that were juried and very competitive. This is her first solo exhibit.

The show will be at the Yellow Barn Gallery, Glen Echo Park, 7300 MacArthur Boulevard, Glen Echo Park, Maryland. The gallery will be open noon until 10:00 p.m. on Friday July 20 and Saturday July 21 with receptions both days from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday July 22 the gallery will be open noon until 5:00 p.m.
