PRESS RELEASE
“Artistic Visions,” a new ongoing show of paintings on view at
The Academy of Fine Arts
Coinciding with its expanded charter and name change, The Academy of Fine Arts is pleased to announce a larger space for its show of paintings on view at the Academy through 2010. Individual paintings for the show are changed every two-three months.
The paintings are in various media—watercolor, acrylic, and oil—and include landscapes, still lifes, florals, and miniatures. The artists for the show are Sandra Cepaitis, Cathy Hirsh, and Elizabeth Stecher.
All are experienced, award-winning artists who have shown widely in the metropolitan Washington area, have had works accepted for very competitive juried shows, and have sold works for private collections throughout the country. Ms. Hirsh had a very successful solo show, “Personal Views,” at the Yellow Barn Gallery in Glen Echo Park and will be having another solo show there, July 23-25, 2010. Ms. Stecher has had paintings accepted into the International Miniature Show at the Strathmore Mansion in 2007, 2008, and 2009, winning a first prize in 2008 for one of her miniatures. Ms. Hirsh and Ms. Cepaitis will be having a joint show at the Art at Penn Place Gallery in Garrett Park, Maryland, June 6 – July 31, 2010. More information about the work of Ms. Hirsh and Ms. Cepaitis can be found at www.hirshstudio.com, www.watercolorsbysandy.com, and www.wmartists.com.
“Having wonderful paintings such as these to decorate our Academy makes such a difference for our students and their parents,” observes Howard Hanson. “We have over 600 students and with our classes and monthly recitals, many will have a chance to enjoy them.”
The Academy also welcomes the public to view the paintings as well. Academy hours are Monday – Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Academy is located at 8451 Helgerman Court, just off of Shady Grove Road near the border of Rockville and Gaithersburg, Maryland.
The Academy provides music, acting, dancing, and singing programs for children and adults and offers both group and private classes through its carefully chosen faculty. Classes in early childhood music for students beginning as young as 18 months are available. More information can be found at www.theacademyoffinearts.com.
Mastery of an instrument and deep understanding of great art are priceless.
